I have to have a bit of a winge about Nemesis by Louise Marley - I made the mistake of starting to read it while I was supposed to be doing other things, and spent the next many hours doing nothing but read. The novel is a complex yet extremely engrossing murder mystery as the main character, Natalie, attempts to solve a murder. An attempt that blossoms into an obsession that takes over her life for fifteen years. The novel alternates between past and present, revealing tidbits of new information in each scene, with each part revealing a piece of the puzzle of what happened those fifteen years ago. I was attracted to this book by the premise a woman whose sister was murdered years earlier writes a book telling a thinly veiled version of the story. Whilst publicising the novel, she repeatedly mentions a diary her sister kept up until her death, referring to her lovers by code names. Her plan is to lure the killer out of hiding… The set-up promises high drama and tension, and the book certainly delivers. The story also has some love interest, delivered with a light touch, which I enjoyed. A great mix of thrills, tension and relationships.
This is the first book I have read by Louise Marley. The cover is beautiful and intriguing. I really enjoyed this book, it has mystery, murder, suspense and obsession, all of which I love, and is full of twists.
I liked how the twists were revealed along the way, not all at the end.The characters have a lot of secrets! I liked the writing, the descriptions are vivid and give a good impression of the setting of the story.
A really absorbing book and I will definitely look out for more books like this by Louise Marley.
This was a well written plot, with a multitude of twists and turns. Without giving away the ending, you will pray for Natilie to win, to find her sister Sarah's killer. If you guess before the end, you will be wrong. Enjoy this this wonderful little tome.
I loved this! Great cast of characters and everyone's a suspect in this who-done-it. Twists and turns all the way through it. Marley is a mistress of suspense! This was a full length novel and I still wanted more. Highly recommend!
"Nemesis" has great characters and plot twists that captured my attention from the beginning. On the surface the story is about finding out who killed Sarah Grove fifteen years ago and why. I enjoyed the story. I particularly enjoyed seeing the characters 15 years ago -- and also in the present day -- it's an entertaining character study along with a good mystery.
This was the first book I have read by Louise Marley. I found it a bit confusing at times, and thought perhaps there were too many characters that didn't really add to the story. I still cannot understand why the heroine's father wanted to kill her, or why her mother hated her so much - it wasn't really made very clear. I can't say that this is on my favourite books list, but I did enjoy it. I will try another of Louise Marley's books in the future.
