After shedding 30 pounds of baby fat, Sophie Sinora has grown into a pretty, but insecure, teen in bloom. To make her life more complicated, Sophie can sometimes read minds.

Sophie's BFFs, AJ and Krysta, are also 'gifted' with paranormal abilities. Keeping their gifts secret proves difficult, as their powers are strengthening, making them feel more and more like freaks.

When Sophie falls for Jacob, she hopes he'll ask her out to the Freshman Formal. But when she's forced to cheat and lie for him, she wonders how far she'll have to go to make him like her. Add to her growing list of problems - her teacher's suicidal thoughts, a locker bully who wants to kick her butt, the hot school flirt who won't stop teasing her, her pregnant sister who boots Sophie out of her room, and the growing tension between Sophie and her best friends.

Sophie's got issues. Hopefully, she can fix them in time to save her teacher's life and her social life.

Sophie Secret Whispers Book 1 eBook Tara West Reviews

What a great teen read.. The author wrote a realistic and believable story about 3 teenage girls and their secret.. Although the secrets are in the fantasy/ paranormal genre, The author was still able to write with awesome details about the life of a teenage girl her bff's the highs and lows of High school, not to
Forget the HOTTIE, the Nottie or the Snottie...
I enjoyed that the author didn't just write about the normal teenage angst but actually included some great morals ( things I want my daughter to learn).

A fantastic quick read that has left me wanting more.. S+F = more please...
Would recommend this book to all fans teen and adult alike..
Book Review- Sophie’s Secret, Whispers Book 1 by Tara West

Sophie and her friends, AJ and Krysta, are freshmen this year. Sophie is back at public school after a year in private school and she is a whole new person. She lost a lot of weight and exercised all summer. She is looking great.
After three weeks she has decided she has a crush on Jacob Flushman. Her friends are shocked. Sophie always said she didn’t have time for boys. They also start to worry over the boy she has chosen. He is a bit of a jerk and is determined to use her. Sophie can’t see what he is doing or maybe she refuses to see it. Jacob has lost weight too and he is supposed to understand what she is going through.
Sophie’s other secret is her gift of hearing others’ thoughts. It is getting stronger and happening more often. This change is making her nervous. Things are getting crazy and she changes her schedule. She can’t stand to be in the pre-algebra class she was placed in. So she changes to Algebra and picks up a year book class. There she meets a new friend who has her own vicious rumors to contend with which were started by the same bully Sophie deals with everyday.
Then she discovers that she doesn’t get equations and needs a tutor. Of course her teacher gets the cutest boy in school to be her tutor. He is going to think she is an idiot. Of course the biggest shocker is when her perfect sister moves back home from college. Sophie gets kicked out of her room. Her life has gone crazy. Sophie has no clue what the right thing to do is anymore.
This was a cute story. I really liked the characters. The girls actually had realistic lives aside from their secret abilities. I also liked to see Sophie gain courage as the story evolved. She reached such a significant goal with her weight loss, but she still had the self confidence of her former self. It was fun to watch her gain more as she realized how truly special she really was. I give it a 4 out of 5.
I've had this book on my reader for years (yes! YEARS) and I started to read it accidentally and it was great! It was a nice surprise, Sophie's Secret is an entertaining and fast to read story.

After losing some weight Sophie is now a pretty teenager who has the ability to read minds (the paranormal aspects of her and her friends was the only thing that could have been erased and still made a good story). The story is about her experience with bullies, friends, starting dating and big sisters.

The story is super fast to read with simple languages and good characters. If you are looking for something to clear your mind and read just for fun, this one is a good choice. And if you enjoy it there are more books in the series.
Bound by their gifts, A.J., Krysta, and Sophie are best friends attending high school. A.J. has visions, Krysta sees the dead, and Sophie is telepathic.

Together, the three go to school and contend with the traditional teenage angst and drama while dealing with their gifts, which seem to be growing stronger.

Sweet, shy, formerly fat Sophie never felt comfortable in her own skin. For once, she would like the boy she’s crushing on to notice her. How would she do that and hide the fact that she can hear thoughts?

Story brought me back to the memories of high school. I always hated when people put their feet on my desk, too. It was relatable as far as knowing what it’s like to crush on someone, to have “enemies,” to fight and stand up for yourself, to hate teachers that embarrass you, etc.

I thought that Sophie was too naïve to think that Jacob (boy she likes) was too cute and too perfect. He wasn’t. He was just using her to get out of detention and cheat on his tests. But, yet, she still liked him. Sophie was nice, but she was too nice. And her ability to hear other people’s thoughts only enabled her to want to help them.

I honestly thought this would be more of a mystery/thriller, but it was mostly drama. But the story was good though—relatable, quick, and easy.
